Desert Democracy
Central Phoenix Chapter of Indivisible!
Join us for this month's Chalk the Walk gathering ! It's a simple, creative way to speak your mind in public space. Bring your boldest, most colorful words; we’ll bring the chalk. What you write might be exactly what someone else needs to see.
If this is new for you, it’s more grounding and liberating than you’d expect. Just show up, add your voice, and be part of something bright and communal.
There’s an important SRP Board election on April 7, and most eligible voters don’t even know it’s happening. This postcard session helps neighbors understand the election, check their eligibility, and learn how to register if needed.
The candidates elected will influence electric prices, solar / energy policy, whether there are AI date centers built at taxpayers’s expense, wasteful water practices and SRP’s dirty power plant policy. Turning Point USA is trying to capture this Board! We could keep TPUSA from passing all those devastating policies with the simple act of sending out targeted postcards.
We’ll provide postcards, scripts, and addresses. You bring your energy and your handwriting. It’s an easy, high‑impact way to help people get the information they need to participate.
We’re kicking off the weekend with creativity, community, and a whole lot of construction paper. Join us to make bold, beautiful signs for No Kings 3.0 — or just come hang out with democracy‑loving neighbors.
We’ll have basic supplies; bring extra materials, folding tables, or chairs if you’ve got them. Need slogan ideas? We’ll have plenty — plus tips from our February Substack post on powerful protest signs.
Let’s make it bold. Let’s make it beautiful. Let’s make it together.
We know this time is overwhelming for all of us —but together, we can provide each other with a little distraction and a lot of support. Our “Hump Day! Forget Trump Day!” gathering is designed to recharge spirits, connect neighbors, and keep our movement strong.
This isn’t just another meeting—it’s a chance to recommit to the values that matter most: fairness, inclusion, and the power of everyday people to shape our future.
Wednesday, March 18th
🕘 5:00PM - 7:00PM
Secure your spot and bring a friend along. This isn't a one-time event. Check out future sessions when you sign up for this one!
Join us for our next Desert Democracy Monthly Meeting!
We’ll connect, share updates, and keep building the people-powered momentum that’s moving Arizona forward.
On Saturday, March 28, Phoenix is joining cities across the country for the next No Kings mobilization — a day of people‑powered action built on one simple truth: we don’t do kings here. Not in the desert, not in our democracy, not anywhere.
Our Phoenix gathering will connect with the national movement while staying rooted in the realities of our own community — heat, grit, resilience, and a deep belief that power belongs with the people who live here.
Whether you’ve been with No Kings from the start or you’re stepping in for the first time, March 28 is a moment to show up, stand together, and make it clear that Arizona is wide awake.
Mark your calendar and spread the word — Phoenix is in!
What is Mobilize? Mobilize is a go-to destination for people-powered movements, providing nonprofits, labor unions, political campaigns, and grassroots organizers the tech needed to create a more democratic world.
Explore upcoming events, RSVP in seconds, and help build the people‑powered momentum Arizona needs.
Our work is powered by people — and our events are where that energy comes to life. To make it easy for our community to plug in, we maintain a live Desert Democracy events dashboard on Mobilize. It’s the central place to find everything we’re hosting: meetups, trainings, volunteer opportunities, community conversations, and action‑focused gatherings across the Valley.
The dashboard updates automatically as new events are added, so you always have the most current view of what’s happening. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or you’re already part of our growing community, this is the best way to stay connected and take meaningful action with us.
Visit the Desert Democracy Mobilize dashboard to see what’s coming up next.
Desert Democracy is part of a broader ecosystem of organizers, volunteers, and community‑builders working every day to strengthen civic engagement across Arizona. One of our key partners, Fifty Fifty One Arizona, maintains a dynamic, easy‑to‑navigate events calendar that highlights opportunities happening statewide.
Their calendar features a wide range of ways to plug in — from voter outreach and community conversations to trainings, volunteer shifts, and local gatherings. It’s updated frequently and offers a clear snapshot of what’s happening across the movement on any given week.
If you’re looking to get involved beyond our own Desert Democracy programming, this is an excellent place to start. Explore upcoming events, find actions that match your interests, and connect with others who are building people‑powered change across Arizona.
We’re thrilled to have a new home for sharing research, resources, and stories that strengthen our community and our democracy.
Here’s what you can expect here:
• Clear voter education tools to help you and your neighbors stay informed
• Research-driven insights that make complex issues accessible and actionable
• Fact-based resources designed to reduce disinformation and build trust in civic participation
• Stories and reflections that remind us why engagement matters
Our mission is simple: make democracy accessible, inclusive, and resilient. Whether you’re here to stay up-to-date, dive into research, or share reliable resources with others, you’re part of something bigger — a movement rooted in clarity, connection, and truth.
A grassroots, bottom-up, and local effort to show our neighbors and passersby they are not the only ones furious, embarrassed, worried, and/or fed up!
Community is our strength—and connection fuels our resistance!
Come join us for coffee, tea, good food, and even better conversation as we build relationships and stand together.
Every dollar fuels action. Your contribution helps strengthen grassroots advocacy, support initiatives, and amplify voices who drive meaningful change. With your financial support, we can expand outreach, fund critical programs, and empower individuals fighting for a more just and equitable future. Be a change maker!
Are you concerned with the actions of this administration? No matter who you are - lifelong progressive, ex-MAGA, independent, moderate republican, socialist, libertarian, political newbie - all are welcome! We'll keep in the loop on opportunities around Phoenix and how you can get involved!
