Join us for our April Monthly Meeting — a space to reconnect, get updates on what our committees are moving forward, and look ahead to the work and events coming up this spring.
This month, we’re welcoming guest speaker Ed Hermes for a conversation on Local Government as a Tool for Change. Ed will explore the power we hold at the neighborhood, school district, and city levels — the places where everyday people can shape systems, support one another, and strengthen our communities.
Ed serves on the Osborn Elementary School District Governing Board and brings deep experience as a lawyer and community advocate.
Our work is powered by people — and our events are where that energy comes to life. To make it easy for our community to plug in, we maintain a live Desert Democracy events dashboard on Mobilize. It’s the central place to find everything we’re hosting: meetups, trainings, volunteer opportunities, community conversations, and action‑focused gatherings across the Valley.
The dashboard updates automatically as new events are added, so you always have the most current view of what’s happening. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or you’re already part of our growing community, this is the best way to stay connected and take meaningful action with us.
Visit the Desert Democracy Mobilize dashboard to see what’s coming up next.
What is Mobilize? Mobilize is a go-to destination for people-powered movements, providing nonprofits, labor unions, political campaigns, and grassroots organizers the tech needed to create a more democratic world.
Explore upcoming events, RSVP in seconds, and help build the people‑powered momentum Arizona needs.
Desert Democracy is part of a broader ecosystem of organizers, volunteers, and community‑builders working every day to strengthen civic engagement across Arizona. One of our key partners, Fifty Fifty One Arizona, maintains a dynamic, easy‑to‑navigate events calendar that highlights opportunities happening statewide.
Their calendar features a wide range of ways to plug in — from voter outreach and community conversations to trainings, volunteer shifts, and local gatherings. It’s updated frequently and offers a clear snapshot of what’s happening across the movement on any given week.
If you’re looking to get involved beyond our own Desert Democracy programming, this is an excellent place to start. Explore upcoming events, find actions that match your interests, and connect with others who are building people‑powered change across Arizona.
We’re thrilled to have a new home for sharing research, resources, and stories that strengthen our community and our democracy.
Here’s what you can expect here:
• Clear voter education tools to help you and your neighbors stay informed
• Research-driven insights that make complex issues accessible and actionable
• Fact-based resources designed to reduce disinformation and build trust in civic participation
• Stories and reflections that remind us why engagement matters
Our mission is simple: make democracy accessible, inclusive, and resilient. Whether you’re here to stay up-to-date, dive into research, or share reliable resources with others, you’re part of something bigger — a movement rooted in clarity, connection, and truth.
A grassroots, bottom-up, and local effort to show our neighbors and passersby they are not the only ones furious, embarrassed, worried, and/or fed up!
Community is our strength—and connection fuels our resistance!
Come join us for coffee, tea, good food, and even better conversation as we build relationships and stand together.
Every dollar fuels action. Your contribution helps strengthen grassroots advocacy, support initiatives, and amplify voices who drive meaningful change. With your financial support, we can expand outreach, fund critical programs, and empower individuals fighting for a more just and equitable future. Be a change maker!
Are you concerned with the actions of this administration? No matter who you are - lifelong progressive, ex-MAGA, independent, moderate republican, socialist, libertarian, political newbie - all are welcome! We'll keep in the loop on opportunities around Phoenix and how you can get involved!
